I'm in nearly the same boat. I've got a 26 gal and am in the processes of setting up a 10 gal sump/refuge. I know that you'll need an overflow to pull water out of the display tank.

My advice is if you can drill the tank, talk to House of laughter he's good, they make house calls and have been successful drilling many tanks.

Rob, i know ur DT is stocked so ur probably not going to have it drilled. And it is a bit risky to have an external overflow box.

Can u set the sump above your DT? That way, you can have the sump drilled and not worry about the external overflow box.

what i did was i bought a 6 gal tank.put a shelf on top of of my sump and that is where i put my fuge.drilled a 1" hole into 6 gal for the drain and used a hose with a u attached to hose for return line.i put the drain hose right into sump.i havbe not had any problems doing it that way.i have many pods in the fuge.

what are u talking about .use the 20 gal as your sump and get a small 6 gal to put on top of your sump as the fuge.my 30 gal i use to put skimmer phosban reactor, carbon filter sock, some lr rumble i have no room for a fuge in there so i used a 6 gal tank put it above my 30 gal sump and ran all the lines into my sump.works great for me and i noticed pods all over my main tank.
