MY RBTA split

too bad that I missed it.. but this morning I realized that my RBTA has split .. now I have two... small ones... but my problem is that Im trying to make my clownfish to host in this anemone.. any ideas to stimulate this? or just be patient...

well I was thinking to sell it or exchange it .. but they look small so Im gonna keep them until there are bigger...

It Will Happen In Time.. Mine Only Host It During The Night Time..lol Other Than That They Don't Pay Attention To It.. I Didn't Think They Would Host My Rba Because Of The Way They Were Ignoring It.

Yeah my clownfish is acting like that. ignore them.. now the fact it split. Is a good thing..?? I think that is how they reproduce.. I was checking on the net.. and some ppl think it is because the RBTA is under streess or perhaps bad water quality... they look healthy.. but that doesn't mean they r healthy...I will test my water today...

It just takes time. I had my RBTA in the tank for over a month before my clowns moved in. I'm not sure anyone really knows what prompts BTAs to split. Some say stress/self preservation and others will tell you plentiful amounts of food. It might even be both. I had a GBTA split in 3 after weeks of daily feedings. However, after that point none of the smaller 3 ever did very well again and ultimately died.

It will happen over time my clown took about 3 weeks before hosting. My RBTA split 9x in 2 yrs.. the key to getting the darn thing to split seems to be to feed it! lol

I'm trying to convert to all sps and I hate them :grumpy: they take up to much real estate .. they sting/destroy anything that they're near to and are nearly impossible to remove when they embed in your rock. :grumpy:

completely agree with you chuck... i think I just lost a pom pom xenia it was touched by RBTA.. and it is driving me crazy.. I have to move all my corals so in case if it moves.. ... Can i glue the RBTA to a rock? jijij just kidding...

Nature and instinct are the only things I have seen that encourage hosting and splitting.

IMHO there isn't much that can be done to encourage clowns to host. That's what I meant when it just takes time. If they are going to host they will do it in their own time.

I tried all kinds of things to get my pair to host in a new RBTA after their GBTA died. I got one of those clown shaped seaweed clips and clipped it in the vacinity of the RBTA. They thought it was a real clown and it scared them. I went so far as to tape a picture of clown hosting in an anemone on the glass so they could see it. They ignored it. I eventually gave up and several weeks later woke up one morning to find them nestled in the anemone.
