Iam going away for the holidays fora week dec 27th-jan 3rd...should u get a feeder? i hav a sw and fw tank.. my mother is kinda forgetful, so im scared she will forget

what's in the tank? how long has it been up and running? there is a greater risk in overfeeding than in under feeding, particularly in an older tank, but it depends on your bioload...

i would not use a drop-in slow release kind of feeder. they are BAD news for both salt and fresh water tanks.

Your freshwater tank will be just fine without any feedings. Not 100% sure of salt; will be an issue in december when i go away for a week. i have arranged plastic baggies with food in them so noone has to calculate their idea if a good feeding in the past. even if the person misses a day or two, you fish do eat a few days.

Anyone got an easy DIY Auto Top off for when we go away on short trips like these?? Im thinking of using a vaccum pump attached to a timer to squirt water into my sump for a short period each day
