I got a 45 ppm reading on my tap water and a 30 ppm on my standard filtered water. Is 45 ppm ok for tap water or is my TDS meter reading it wrong? I also wanted to know that if my tap water really is 45 ppm, should I go with RO/DI or just DI since it isn't too high?

BTW, what is everyone's reading on their tap water? I just want to know what the average reading is, thanks.

You need both

If you don't use both with proper profiteering your DI Membrane will be destroyed by any chlorine in the water. The ideal setup is a sediment filter followed by 2 carbon blocks Ro then your DI

I have the Air water Ice ( check their site very helpfull) Typhon III. In Rockland County I have 320 ppm going in 2ppm after the RO and 0 PPM after the DI

Good Luck

In Queens, 40-70ppm depending on the seasons, tends to be higher in the summer.
After RO, perfect zero everytime. I just make sure I change the prefilters every 5-6 months when the pressure gauge shows its getting clogged. I also use .5 micron carbon and 1 micron sediment and used the same membrane for 3+ years so far. Don't need DI because it doesn't get better then 0. :)
