Metal Halide lighting

Hi, I just purchased a " Current " (Sunpod ) metal halide fixture with built in LEDs for my 72 gallon reef. It came with 2x14k 250w Halide bulbs. I also have a seperate aqualight stip with 2xT5 actinics

I'm not happy with the color these halide bulbs are casting, as they make the tank look as if it has cheap white flourescent lighting on and doesn't really look like a real yellow sun light as the ones I see in the stores.

Anyone knows which halide bulbs would be better to replace these ones with? bulbs that would also make the reds and oranges pop ...

Try a 10k bulb it will look more yellow.

Thanks Brendan. Is 10K stronger than 14K?
and are there different strengths for T5 actinics bulbs? and which ones are good?

10k's are more in the yellow spectrum Not too sure about brand I like 14k bulbs I really like the Phoenix 14k and the Current 14k 250's that you don't LOL

Chief is def right about the 10k bulbs. They give a yellow look that you are prob going for. Since you have t5 actinics, you will prob get the desired effect that you are looking for with the 10k halides and t5s combined.

t5 antic's i liked the giessman antic plus hof carries them. and if youo decide to part with the coralvue 14k bulbs lmk i loved the color i got from mine in my current 150w mh , i have usio now i think
