Do you think I will have to let the 125 recycle? The 110 was up for a cpl years and I sold all the livestock but kept all the 100lbs or so of rock and sand with water in it circulating for few weeks that it has been empty of stock. I will be bringing probably 50 plus gallons of water with me for the new tank and adding birospira to the tank to add the extra bacteria that isnt present in the water. Will this still require the 6 weeks of cycling or is reduced amount?

I assume this is similar to when anyone moves because Im keeping almost all the living bacteria from the tank and trasferring it, however adding a decent amount of new water and havent been skimming liverock or filtering (this might be a problem)

any thoughts?

J! Just think of it as a nice water change. Just make sure you move fairly fast getting the sand & rocks back into their new home. And start skimming & filtering right away. Check your para.., cause you may have a small spike, before you start adding any living creatures in there. Why weren't you skimming or filtering?

Not sure, For some dumb reason I just stopped, thinking it wasnt important because there was nothing visually living in there (stupid i know) I am selling my 110 tank tommorow and having rock, sand and water in large tubs, at this point i will try out my new DAS EX-2 skimmer and get that water on point for my new setup.

I also havent been running heater and lighting is that important for rock and sand biological filtration?

no the lighting isnt and as long as the sand and rock dont stay out of water it shouldnt be a problem, a tub will basically be the same as a tank that you cant see through. you might have lost alot of alive stuff if the temp dropped too much though

Throw a heater, and a powerhead in there J. Remember that heat rises. Unless you have radient heat those floors are cold. Just make sure they are submerged in the water. You'll be ok. Don't worry so much. What's done is done.;) Do a water change ever so often.
