usually when you disturb the sand bed, you distribute the nutrients that were stored in the sand bed into the water column causing cyano or other bacterial or algae blooms.

Remember when I told you why I didn't have a sandbed... This is why... Bump up your flow do some water changes lessen your feeding and it should be okay in about 2 months...lol But that time span could be shorter..

2 fixes that i know of....1 is daily cleaning, increasing water flow, phoshate control and riding it out, which could take a while or i would remove everything and sift the sand through clean water then replace when the water runs clear through it. the second method is only if the tank is well established because you will be washing out some of the beneficial bacteria.
