hey mission, good job so far.

my only suggestion is to get a background, either black or dark blue so you can hide some of the equipment wiring. they sale types that are adhesive and can be easily removed.

i saw this skimmer for sale.. $100 shipped. its a euro reef rs5-3. does not come with a pump.. could i run this with a maxijet 1200? should i buy this? or wait for a better deal. id put this in my sump:

a maxijet will not be able to run that you need a needle wheel pump.

You don't have a bioload with fish at this point. The powerhead will keep your water moving and cut down on your red algea(bacteria) buildup. Then you can figure out what you want to do with the skimmer in the meantime. I have the Koralia it is great choice.

I would say you had a great save too by the way. I didn't use RO water to start and it was a HUGE mistake. Good Job!!!!

If he already has the maxijet 1200 he doesn't really need to go out and buy a new koralia 4. He could just buy something like this. http://sea-flo.com/cms/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 cheap and effective, uses less wattage than a koralia 4.
