As I previously posted, I am upgrading to a 34 gallon tank, from my 24.

Im not getting into specifics, but
If I want to add more Live sand and Live rock, how do I do this?

I plan to transfer everything in one day(b/c I want to use my stand, which has my 24 on it), so I must unload the 24, move it, put the empty 34 in its place, and transfer everything.

Can I just add NEW Live Sand to the old sand when I do the sand transfer?(I know to be careful NOT to create a sand storm)(I plan to add the Live Sand in a bag, Not sure who makes it off the top of my head)

I am going to slowly add more Live rock to the system, maybe 5 lbs at a time(1 month), until Ive added 10-15 lbs.

Not sure from any previous threads, but is there any livestock in the 24? You will undoubtedly experience some cycle from adding more LR (cured would be my suggestion to limit the cycle).

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the transfer. You're increasing volume by the amount of a large water change. Just have additional mixed saltwater at the ready and do a 5 gallon water change each day for a week or so. You'll minimize the effects of any negatives coming from a small cycle and you should be fine.

Ok here's how to do it.

Go to petland and buy 2 10g tanks (They will cost you about 20 bux) Put all the livestock in each tank and run a PH in each tank.

Take out the rock and put it in 5 g buckets on the side. make sure to save all of the water from the prev tank and maintain the temp of the water with heaters.

Remove tank from stand and place new tank in there.

Put bottom layer of rock in the tank on the bottom

Add live sand. One bag should do it.

Slowly add water from buckets.

Now comes the tricky part.

Add the livestock slowly along with the water in the 10 g tanks.

Livestock may need to be acclimated like it was new in the event that there is a parameter difference.

Then add new water to topoff. and fill to capacity. Make sure you have enough heaters and PH's to do this properly.
