Should a second floor apt. be able to handle weight of a 125 gallon?

Im getting paranoid after my first day moved in to the apt. Im wondering if these floors will hold a 125 stocked with rock, sand etc, probably being close to 1500lbs.

Should I be ok?

assuming nothings wrong with the floor, yes, However I would run the tank across the beams and close to a wall...that would give you more support. plus a 125 is 5 feet long right? that would give you better distribution of that 1500 lbs over a 3 or 4 foot tank.

It shouldn't really be a problem as long as you put the tank near retaining walls, better yet if you put then near 2, such as a corner of the apartment.

i say if the building is fairly new and in good shape it will hold. A 125 is 6ft long which spreads the weight of the tank out. Like said before, as long as its near a retainging wall and across the floor beams and not with them, your good to go. Just dont put on any weight

I live on the 1st floor of my condo and currently have a 180 FOWLR and a 75G reef in the dinning room; all together I have about 3000 pounds going when you add rocks, water, and sand from both tanks, lol. I did however, locate the beams b4 I went ahead of setting up both tanks. On the good side the floor beneath the granite is concrete. Still a little scared till this day; there's a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo below the 180 in the garage below:shocked1:.

place the the tank across the beam of the floor.check the floor for weakness if you could walk and hear sounds the floor may be weak at that spot

When you find an internet report or newspaper article covering a floor collapsed due to a fish tank - than you can worry.
