Old water vs new water question?

The other day I noticed that the old water I was changing had a slight yellowish greenish tint to it. The only reason I noticed was because I had the new water right next to it which was ultra clear. I change my water once a week, about 5g. I was just wondering if anybody else noticed this?

It seems whatever it is my clams seems to love it.

When I do a small w/c & have my salt pails w/old & new water next to each other, I'll notice a slight difference. Usually I'll magfloat/clean the glass prior to a w/c so this could account for the diff. in color.

If you dilute your skimmate, you'll also notice the same color....
It's a combination of all sorts of stuff in your tank..fish poo, algae, phyto, food residue...and yes, that is why your clam loves it! To our corals it is food.
