Hi all,

Just picked up a 55 gallon and stand off ebay for 80 bucks. I am going to take the fish and rock (dead rock basically) and transfer that to the 55. My question is should I tottally clean out the aquapoad and start from scratch or use the subsrate and water in the tank now. here are my test results as of now with the fish and no coral

phos .5
nitrate 0
cal 380
kh 10

Thanks guys for the help

My goal is to turn the 55 gallon into a fish only tank and start the aquapod up as a reef again. The aragate has been in there for close to 3 years, would that help cycle the aquapod? or should I just start fresh clean out the aquapod and just transfer everything to the fish only tank?

I would seed the 55 with some of you sand from the aquapod and start the cycle in 55 with some new live rock. don't see the point of totally cleaning out the aquapod into the 55 if your going to use it too. either way you going to have to cycle 1 of the tanks.

just my opinion

Which tank is currently running? Sand from the running tank to the new tank to seed the new tank would be great. If you have crushed coral in the existing tank I would break down and switch to sand.

The aquapod is up and running right now I have a deep sand bed and the dead rock in it now. The sand seems to have alot of life in it. I wanted to remove some of it anyway my local store said I needed that much when i set it up. That is crushed coral on the top when I went to fish only they stirred up the tank alot. By the way your aquapod got me back to trying a reef again! Thanks alot lmao!
