Newly setup 125 is almost 3/4" inch unlevel!

Damn this is stressful. I just set this tank up and realized the one overflow isnt draining because water wasnt up to the teeth on that side. I made an adjustment w/ overflow, but after posting a few helpful members here commented how this is a big problem. So i did some research and it apparently is.

I dont have a level, but used a tape measure to see how off they were, and one side is and inch from surface of water to rim, the other is an inch and 3/4's.

Is this really bad? should i act on it asap?

is there any way to level it, or strengthen sides with/ out emptying whole thing?

If the tank is full I would drain it ASAP. The uneven floor will stress the tank and it might brake.

I wouldn't risk it. If you have the buckets, I'd rather just empty it enough that the tank can be maneuvered for levelling. just my $0.02

I HIGHLY recommend draining it ASAP!

I agree, the stress of it being so far out of level can cause it rip at the seems or even stress fracture.

At this point I would drain it, and then triple check all the seams for any of the silicone pulling away from the glass.

If the seams look solid, level it and refill it.

Its a new tank, just empty it and them level it off first. You don't want to break a new tank already do you? With all that weight and trying to lift it even a little, its definitely going to stress the tank seams.

always check for level!!!! i'd suggest going out and buying a level (they are so cheap)
make sure its level front to back and side to side, pick up the shims while ur there incase u need them (they r cheap also, i have a ton of them laying around in my storage closet.

Yea in morning im gonna pick one up from a friend and if its as bad as my ruler test showed or even a little i think im gonna go to Home depot pick up a cpl large containers and begin this rediculously annoying adventure. I took so much time checking bulkheads, plumbing, saving rock sand etc AND FORGOT TO CHECK IF TANKS WAS LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I just removed roughly half the water from my tank via 5 gall bucket. I had to leave rest because of living rock, sand etc. but I believe that wil greatly reduce the pressure while I can got to hardwear store and get proper equipment.

by the way, water will always lay level. You can always use that as a guage for how level the tank is. Helps those who don;t have a real level or one that might be off.

I just leveled off this morning. Had to take out all water and rock then a crowbar and some wood shims got it perfect. only problem is after tank was filled it compressed shims into padded floor and is back to being about 1/16th of an inch off from 3/4". I guess i have to make it slightly uneven the other way to account for suppression. And it turns out the house is uneven in every room

Now only problem is, that I cut grooves in the other side to accomidate old unevenness, and now thats its even the water flows more down that side. I guess I have to cut grooves in the other side too. Any thoughts?

it's the stand that is not level, this will not cause stress on the tank. the tank is situated level on a un-level stand.when shimming make sure to not to leave large area between shims. this will cause uneven pressure on the stand that will cause undue stress on the stand and cause a probem with possible the stand coming apart, get a few differnt size shims and shim it from smallest difference to largest difference

yea I probably used 20 or so shims and basically covered the whole side and one in the front to distribute the pressure properly.

In a weird way this annoying situation helped my tank out because will all the water changes I ended up getting a lot of the white powder from sand and detritus from old rock out of water and my tank is pretty damn clear now. Im gonna take pix tommorow and post em

Being the fact that all my rock (100+) 25% sand and 30 gallons of water were from old tank Impretty sure I avoided a cycle. I have tested every day since sunday and no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate.

What do you think a good first fish for this FOWLR w/ aggressive tendencies should be? Its gotta be hardy, not too aggressive but could hold its own.

Im thinkn niger trigger, or a tomato clown, or big a$$ damsel

Start with making a list of all the fish you'd like to have. Then start with the least aggressive fish first.

well the ones Ive been wanting for the thousand plus times I went into a LFS and was told either, "ur tank is too small" or "not reef safe" are

Sohal tang- I know, i know too big wont work
Triggers- Love the picasso, and clown (i heard clowns pretty badass)
Angel- I gotta have the imperator, loved it for years
Puffer- porcupine
Eel- reeally want a tesselatta but too big and agg, will settle for a Zebra

Besides that I just want some options like some tangs, wrasses, etc
