Dane...
about the anemone...
If you want it, b/c you want a clown(s) to host it... Your clowns will host certain corals, anemones are cool...but they prefer MH lighting, are an annnoyance to feed(unless your clowns do that for you), can mess up your corals, will move on you, sometimes to bad places, im sure there other reasons. You could get a big frogspawn and they should host that(depending on the type of clown, and indivualism).
PS Tank breed/raised clowns are much slower to host b/c they have not been shown, and their natural instinics take awhile to kick in(so ive been told)

Oh darn! Would've liked an anemone. I've even done all my research :eek:rangehat!!! I never knew they would host with corals - I have two ocellaris. I'm not sure if they're tank bread or wild...

As for getting corals, do you think it will be more "student friendly" budgetwise to buy from MR Members when they're selling? Or get off with a few starter packs like maybe this one from liveaquaria?? http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=2140

Is it Dan or Dane?
I agree that you should have more flow in your tank.
I'd jump on the offer of the Koralia 2 - those are rated at 600 gph.
There are fishguards & concentrators available for them now (I have them directly from Hydor..so if you get the p/h and it doesn't have it, LMK & I'll sent it to you). The concentrators lessen the width of the flow and send it further across the tank..very handy little item.

Can you possibly post some pics of your tank so we can see the layout and suggest some corals that you can read up on..we are on the web here...and then make your decisions based on your research :)

Do you have test kits and can you list all of your water parameters?

Hi Kathy,

It's Dane with an 'e' :). I don't have any concentrators actually, it would be great if I could get some :)

As for my readings:
PH: 8.2 ammo:0 nitrite:0 nitrate: 0 Calcium: somewhere between 420 - 500 (it's hard to tell exactly when it changes from pink to purple in the test kit!!!) and phosphate: 0

I still don't have an alkalinity test yet, but will do so very soon.

And I will post some pics as soon as I get my camera working again!!
