I just got my Biocube14-a longtime dream of having a reef is FINALLY being realized! I've had a saltwater fish only tank in the past, but never any reef critters!
I set it up, put in the water, measured in the salt, added the live rock, the live sand (very pretty fiji pink)
and now I'm waiting...I hate waiting. Hate. :arg:

So, While waiting, I'm learning, and planning...I cannot believe how much stuff I want! Is it as addicting as it seems?

So, Hello!:flower:

Welcome to MR. Seems like you've got a leg up on most newbies. There are a few differences between FO and reef. Do a bit of reading and it sounds like you'll be fine.

Just for instance:
FO you can get away with SG @ 1.019-1.020
Reef you'll want to get the SG up to ~ 1.025

Many people in FO will use a wet/dry type of sump.
In a reef most people won't use a wet/dry, but use their sump for their skimmer, heater, reactors, etc.

The need for excessive (or just a lot) flow in a FO is not a requirement.
In a reef, depending upon the animals you'll be keeping you might need to have a lot of, and random flow.

Those are just a few examples, lighting is another issue.

Anyway, once again, welcome to our little part of the reef.

Welcome to MR. Lots of good information here. Use the search feature to find what you are looking for. If you can't find it ask. Good luck with the reef.

Thanks for the welcome and the info! Today I plan to do more reading, and maybe eat... I'm thinking of investing in a little bit more live rock-My is very nice, but a little sparse.
Getting up just now, it's really hard not to turn the light on and leave it on all day so I can gaze into it...lol.

I'm Baaaack...lol!

I'll attempt to post a pic...

It's the first pic I took of the tank-my computer is hating on me, so I have to spend some time getting more onto the computer...lol! But that will require some major time, and maybe a visit from the geek squad!

Thanks for all the welcomes!!
