Inexpensive MH Fixtures

Has anyone had any experience with these fixtures from Oddesey?

They seem cheap, but....too cheap..

Don't the ballasts tend to overheat and die really quickly?

Ive actually had a pretty gd experience, and worked well for me. I had it for about 6mos and no probs before I sold it. This is the newer odyssea model and its improved alot from older models. I think its worth it in my opinion

I've never owned their MH fixtures but after owning like 3 of the PC fixtures I can tell you that after opening those up & opening the Coralife fixtures, I was more impressed with the Odyssea fixtures.

I agree, for a 3rd of theprice, even if you get a cpl gd years, for $100 to see the shimmering of a nice MH light its well worth it

They did improve their MH models,I've had their previous model and it was garbage.Made in China though.You get what you pay for.Just a warning.

I think it is worth it, but because they probably cut every corner to keep prices down, being handy with ballasts wiring and other electrical issues might arise

with the new electronic ballasts I havent read anything about the overheating. Some are saying the output is not what it should be and they replace the ballast with a icecap. Either way they are still a steal. I have a 48" compact and it works great! will definately recomend them.

I read a few posts on other aquarium websites and it seems it might be best to hold off on this. I already have a 150W MH Current model for the 26 gall bowfront. I was wanting to upgrade to the 250W for the clams, but will pass on Oddesey. Made in China and fires with ballasts doesnt quite go hand in hand for a $200 savings.....

Sure. I think I have one in my gallery. I was (and is) having a problem with algae...calerpa mexicana actually so that might show as well

if you cant see let me know...MH are great. I have the Currents 150w 24 inch fixture
