Can you clarify a few things? I think I've been hearing different tips (unless I'm just hearing things

)
1. Should you use other live rock to see the Marco Rocks during anytime of the cycling process? I heard yes, helps speed up the process. I heard no, as you don't want to introduce pests.
I guess you'll have to weight the benefit of having bacterias that you can't get from dry rocks by adding live rock. You'll eventually get them other ways, just takes a lot longer if you are not purposely introducing them. I enjoy the hobby more while looking at corals, not a bunch brown rocks while waiting for it to "cure".
2. I heard that you shouldn't have your protein skimmer running during curing. Is this correct?
You should ask them how are you suppose to remove all the DOC coming out of the dead rock(which packs a lot more dead stuff than live rock). Large water changes everyday? Why is the reason for no skimmers if the purpose of "curing" is to wait for the dead rock to eject all the dead animal and plants so the water it is in becomes stable?
3. Do you recommend running carbon as well while curing the rocks?
It will help with the removal of DOC, but it will also be exhausted very quickly.
Thanks.
