I HAVE A 72 GAL REEF,AND DO NOT KNOW IF I HAVE ENOUGH WATER MOVEMENT, I HAVE 750 MAG(750 gph) THAT IS RETURNING FROM MY PUMP AND A HYDRO KORALIA PUMP #3(850 gph).BOTH ON OPPISITE SIDE OF EACH OTHER. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT I CAN ALMOST GET ANY CORAL WHEN I GO TO A STORE TO BUY ONE.I SEE ALOT OF PEOPLE'S PICS WITH LOTS OF POWERHEADS IN TANKS, ANY SUGGESTINGS ON MAYBE ADDING A WAVY SEA,IS MY MAG PUMP BIG ENOUGH?

Water movement is only one factor in determining what corals you can successfully keep. Only when you've decided what type of corals you ultimately want, can anyone give you 'accurate' suggestions.

Different corals have different requirements. For example, an alveopora coral wouldn't open fully, if at all, if it's in a tank turbulent enough for various acropora colonies.

You practically can't have too much flow in a reef tank. One simple modification you could make is to add a penductor to the return line from your mag pump. The Penductor converts the high pressure, low flow energy from the return line to low pressure, high flow, thus greatly increasing the amount of water movement in your aquarium.

Tell that to a coral which I blew the flesh off because it was too close to the vortech

thats too much velocity, not too much flow ;)

i don't agree w/ putting a penductor on a mag pump. You need a pressure rated pump to properly use a penductor/eductor. A penductor on a mag pump is only going to decrease flow and increase velocity. There will not be enough pressure to pull in water from the tank thru the penductor, which is the whole point.

In other words, a penductor w/out enough pressure is just a nozzle.

I would say two more koralia's like that one would be good. Position them in a way in which you have high, medium, and low flow areas. This way, when you get a coral, find a place where the flow is appropriate for it.So if you say get an acropora frag, put it where theres high flow. Then if you get something that doesn't need all that flow like a mushroom, put it where theres not to much flow.

And the answers to all you guys' question is probably that he wants a mixed reef.
