Hi Guys,

I'm just starting with reefs and I really find this forum helpful. I have a small 8gal biocube setup with 2 clowns, cleaner shirmp, mushroom, corals and 4 snails. Also I had a group of 5 hermits 4 small black ones and one bigger grey one. They were fine for last 2-3 months together (water was stable, everything got along etc) and now I'm noticing that there is only one black one and the big grey one left and the rest got murderred and eaten. I suspect cleaner shrimp as I saw him eating out remain of one.

Is this normal and I should threat those casualties as a part of sea life, or am I doing something wrong?
Also I noticed red hairy spots on sand. What it is and can it be the reason?

Any feedback is appreciated ( shrimp is under arrest and awaiting proccess for triple hermits murder)

due to new evidence in this case, cleaner shirmp has been released and all charges have been dropped. Shrimp said he's satisfied with the verdict and asks for his privacy while he relaxes in his cave....

Thanks guys :))))))))))

I also constantly(1 per 3 months) find dead hermits. I have plenty of extra shells, plenty of food, and, I also have the same # of living hermits as before. Ive found 4 dead hermits(1-2 every 2-3 months) in my tank, and have found 5 of the original 6 hermits.

Where do these "mystery" dead hermits come from?
