Hey All,

I have a 24G Aquapod. I was told to take out all of the sponges, bioballs & ceramic pieces out of the filter area. I did & put in a piece of poly filter material by where the water passes through to get to the powerhead. It worked fine for a few weeks, but now the water has a lot of particles floating in it. I cleaned the poly filter & added purigen & chemi pure. Should I add the sponge back? how do I get the water clear again. Oh, all tests are fine as far as water quality. Thanks!!

what kind of filtration do you have? if you have a hang on back or sump try adding more phosphate remover. The purigen should definitely help. how mature is this tank? do you have a skimmer?

Only what came with the tank. It has 2 chambers. Water comes in to chamber 1, flows through the Poly filter, goes to chamber 2 where I have the Purigen & Chemi Pure & then the head brings the water back to the main tank area.

Is your tank open top (Hqi lighting) or covered? Leave out the sponge and the bio balls and put some chemi pure and poly pad in there and change it each month or as needed. I also have live rock rubble in chamber 1. and a p[rotien skimmer in chamber 1 as well but my pod has no top.

Get some poly fil from walmart or craft store. place it in front of the intake to chamber 1 to catch any debris floating in the tank.

Chris, I have a lot of flow in the tank. I upgraded the power head & added a circulator. All of my levels are 0

I don't recc. using chemicals such as algone in a reef system.

Tony,

Algone is all natural, its proven that it won't harm a thing in the tank, its a way to balance out the water parameters when an algae bloom is out of control ..The stuff does work (and in my situation it was extreme - remember, plus my tank was loaded with corals...didn't harm them or the fish)

As for the tank being cloudy, if you have good flow, than try limiting you lighting periods, could be too much light, will get back to you on other thoughts ...

Just thought about the sand, seems like in the pics you have alot of sand, sometimes trapped bacteria builds in the sand beds and can cause all kinds of trouble with the water parameters, but if your levels at this point are 0 than thats not it either lol
