Sand and more...

I am new to the Reef, but have had my 24 Deluxe Nano for almost 2 years. I recently replace the hood with the the HQI one which they came out with several months ago. It seems to be making a difference...

Anyway, I have had the same sand for two years. My question: Can I replace the sand somehow or simply add more too it? Since my unfortunate coral die off(very sad, but I found the culprit I think). I have only a leather coral which is recovering and a small yellow polyp frag. Can I remove my rock and coral and replace the sand or at least most of it?

Oh, one more question...Any recommendations on a multiple testing kit?

get the salifert test kits. you basically would be re-cycling the tank by taking the old sand out or adding some new. and why do you want to add more sand ?

Im with NY why do you want to replace the sand?

If things are just starting to get better and recover I wouldn't pick now to mess around with the tank.

You do not say how much sand you have. I agree with the others, leave it be. If you have less than an inch you can add more up to an inch.

Thanks for the advice, I will leave it be...I was asking because I didn't know if, after time, the sand becomes less beneficial to the tank. I have about 1 1/2 inches of sand in most places.
