I ran into a problem today. I wanted to start skimming during cycling process of my new tank, I have the skimmer and finally got a Mag 9 pump. Originally I bought blue line 40x pump and then realize I would have to drill a hole in a glass sump (can't get the sump out now) so I bought the submersible Mag, but it has smaller fitting. The skimmer has 1" intake, the pump has 3/4" outtake and I can't find reduction in plastic anywhere. Where can I get it? Do I have to order it?
:help:

if you cant find at home depot than def go to lowes they will def have it if not go to a local plumbing supply but will have it or even ace hardware ......just ask for a PVC reduction fitting you need a 3/4" female X 1" male

OR worst comes to worst....

get a 3/4" threaded female adapter with 3/4" male slip and then get a 3/4" female slip x 1" male slip and then get a 1" female slip x 1" threaded male
PVC cement the slips and there you go you have your DIY adapter
hope that was helpful

home depot should have a reducing adapter from 1" to 3/4" you might need some additional parts though to make it all fit, not exactly sure of the layout of the mag 9. might need to get a threaded to slip adapter and then a 1" to 3/4" adapter.

Thank you guys, funny thing is I was in Home depot, there the guy told me the PVC is toxic for fish , that I have to go to special pet store, so I went to Lowe's there the PVC wasn't toxic but the guy couldn't find the reduction, so I was under impretion I have to order it.
Could that be because I'm female :scratchch.
I'm going back tomorrow with the list from you - thanx again - and hope to talk to somebody else

no home depot is generally full of people that don't know what they're talking about. Just wash the pvc before you use it, because all the home depots i go to usually have a thick coating of dust on everything.

I use my local plumbing store and they are great cause you actually get some one that understands what your trying to do compared to home depot that cant find the plumbing section of the store. Also the plumbing store has a lot more pvc parts then HD.

Thank you all, got it up and running. I don't know about local pluming store but was lucky at Home depot. Nice guy helped me improvise, they didn't have the reduction, he even cut and glued the PVC pieces for me. There are still nice people out there, just we have to find them :biglaugh:.
I will post pictures little later in my tank post (Eva's 90 gal ... if interested)
Thanx again :spin:
