skimmer question.

hey i was wondering if this http://www.aquacave.com/octopus-nw-200-needle-wheelbr-protein-skimmer-496.html skimmer is good for my 180g tank that im gettin tomorrow. or do yo guys got any in mind thats better and cheaper ? 200$ is right on the line...anything over is 2 much for me . thank you.

For a 180 tank I would probably recommend against this. The ratings on the skimmers are usually in the high end of things, i.e. if you basically have nothing in the tank then this would be fine. But i doubt you want to stare at nothing so you'll need a bigger skimmer. An investment of over $200 is definitly in line. I have this on my 90 and i've mesh modded it and will be doing the venturi and flow increase mods to it later down the line.

I haven't investigated anything for a 180 gallon tank so i wouldn't be the best person to ask. hopefully this bump will get someone else to chime in.

for a 180....200$ wont get you anything thats gonna be helpful....
but what kind of setup are you running....
your looking at maybe 300-500 for a knockoff skimmer that rocks.

look into a DAS ex-2 or maybe a msx200
also comb the forums for used skimmers...thats your best bet.
