Hello fellows reefers..

Well I?m cycling my LR on my 50 gallons tank for a little more than one month.. I put some cured LR and seed it with some of my sand from my nano tank... ammonia is zero, but nitrite was getting to zero ,but now is the going up.. what should I do? Do a small water change.. (I know u should not do w/c doing cycling process?) or should I just WAIT? ???? perhaps it is normal that nitrite goes down and up??????:scratchch

Just let the cycle run it's course. It's possible that something was in the rock and it died, which caused the nitrites to go back up, also do another test as you may haven't made a mistake.

You should soon see the nitrites start to drop and reach zero, you'll also start to see the nitrates raising. Once the ammonia and nitrites are zero do a water change to bring the nitrates down close to zero.

Don't add any fish until the cycle is complete, and since you have enough live rock you don't need to additional biol-load that the fish would give you.

I wont put a fish in there.. that's why I got LR ..to start the nitrogen cycle ... it seems that nitrite is getting to zero.. the weird thing was that I tested the water (twice) at night and it was almost zero and then test it the next morning and nitrites went up ... it seems fine now..
