powerheads

what are some good p[owerheads that i can get for my 55g which will produce desired flow? all i have is a wet/dry powered by a rio 2100

I like my Maxijets. I had them in my 55 and I also had seios. the only problem is that they take up alot of room in the tank. that bothered me. Before I broke down I was looking for ways to hide them from sight.

High end, go Tunze, great powerhead but good luck hiding it. Nano series have stalling issues too.

Low end, go Maxijet with Sureflow and Wingo-Mod so that you can hide it on the top two inches of water surface. Need a
canopy to cover extend downward 2 3 inches though. 2 of these will blow your tank upside down-4200GPH

There are couple others with even flow mechanism but they are HUGE

Aquaclear is very stupid.

Rio is small. Some models are great while some models have problem with stalling.

What is the desired flow for a 55 gallon reef tank? Assuming mix of mushrooms and corals?

Two powerheads at 400GPH? 800GPH?

Depends on the flow requirements of the corals.
