I recently purchased an RO/DI Typhoon III 75gpd unit. Currently I have it hooked up to my hand shower hose in the tub. Not sure if this is OK or not. I used it a couple of times and the waterflow coming out of the unit seemed fine. Now the hose has developed a leak so I can't use it anymore for the RO/DI unit. Nowthe unit is connected directly to the shower head. Is this OK?

But right now it looks like the ratio is like 8 to 1. The water coming out of the shower head isn't at full power. If the water is at full power I would get alot of water leaking from the shower adapter thread. Would that damage the unit or plumbing in the bathroom? Sorry for the stupid question.

Also does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the hook up easier. The pipes here are like 70 years old.

Thanks

As long as you're reading 0 TDS it shouldn't matter what the source is.

If you have a hose connection on the input maybe you could install
a faucet on a slopsink that has a threaded hose end on it.

when you got your unit did it have some water beads in it like moisture or like it had been run with water allready?I just got the 150 gallon by them and it looked like there was moisture in there like it had been used.

It could have been condensation in there.

was it incredibly wet or just moist?

There was just a little too much moisture like water ,I emailed them and he said that it was pressure tested so I'm wondering if maybe it was warm air.

Zous ....If you are threading something on make sure that you use teflon tape so thatyou don't get that much dripping when I got my unit evrything was tagged like in and out etc.

Sporty when I got my unit there was moist in the DI canister but I believe to test the unit before shipping it to me. I can't put telfon tape on the thread because after I fill up the bucket I need to put the shower hose back on again.

#1 - 8 to 1 is really wasteful, im pretty sure the typhoon has a flow restrictor. follow the directions as to adjusting this (u do a calculation then cut te restrictor. pretty straightforward). i wouldnt adjust it until u have found a permanent hookup as the water pressures might be different and require different length flow restrictor.

#2 as far as hookups, i have the sink attachment and basically put it on and break it down everytime i use it. im sure u can find a a y fitting and keep both the showerhead and the ro unit hooked up at the same time.

good luck

zous I think you might not have enough pressure for the unit .It would take the path of least resistance -drain-Thats just my opinion I have not confirmed this yet.

I'd recommend you get that water suply situation squared away - the more pressure reaching the system the better, within limits. Low pressure = poor performance. What is the pressure reaching the system?

A pressure gauge is really something you should have on the system. Might want to think about an add on kit. It will help you know if you have enough pressure to run a system effectively, and will help you know when your prefilters are clogged.
