I have a sump with chaeto in it with some rocks. I previously had a algae bloom in the display tank and red purple slime grew in the sump. After adding a phosban reactor. The algae bloom went away but the refusium was full of cynobacteria/slime which continued to stay in the refusium. It grew over everything. And it out competed the chaeto. I remove all the slime from the sump as well as all the chaeto. I cleaned up the all the rock and removed most of them out. After the refusium was clean, I got a large ball of chaeto to start anew. but now there are small areas of cynobacteria growning within the chaeto causing it to be more bouyant as the slime creates bubbles. After few days my large ball of chaeto is floating on the surface. The sand in the refusium is also beginning to darken. Hey what is a good way first to get rid to the slime and what critters should I introduce into the refusium to help stir the sand and hopely create a deep sand bed refusium.
