Hi all. I recently noticed some brown film on my sand bed. It has some bubbles on it and it is sort of a film. Should I just try to vaccum it out ? Dont have any sand sifters yet. Should I get one and if so, what cleans the sand but doesnt make too much of a stir ?

Thanks

It Isnt Cyan If It Is Brown, Tank Is Cycling Still Whether You Added Something, Disrupter Sand Bed, High Phosphates, Not Enough Circulation, Check Your Water Parameters. Could Be Several Thing's. Yes You Can Syphon The Top Layer Off The Sand. Get Some Nas Snals And Sand Sifting Starfish. Or A Bullet Goby Will Eat It And Help Keep Sandbed Turned Over

I have it growing on the top of my rocks and If I poke it bubbles will come out. I have been peeling it off. It comes off in sheets. And its slimmy. I thought it was from the lights always being on. being its growing at the top of my rock right by the light.

I Know Dev, But The Way He Explained It Is The Same Thing I Am Going Through, And I Had A Diatom Bloom On My Sand Twice Now, Guess I Need To Cut Back On Feeding And Do Larger Water Changes.

Thanks all. I just did a 25% water change last week. Since, Ive added a Doughnut coral and nothing more. I have a 70 Gal.Oceanic Reef Tank, Euroskimmer,2 Tunze , Current 150W Outer Orbit, and am adding a chiller because my temps have been hitting 82 to 83 by afternoon. In my sump I have a bag of carbon and all my parameters ( Except my temps ) are in line. I will try to vacuum it up and hope to get my chiller going this weekend.
