Anyone ever have one of their powerheads fall off the glass in the middle of the night and blow sand EVERYWHERE? Now the back corner has almost no sand and there is sand all over everything. Not to mention the tank is now cloudy as hell. I tried to fan the sand off the rocks and corals as best as I could. Any other suggestions? I dont know how Im gonna get sand back in that corner though :(

Not sure how big or mature your tank is... but it might be best to slowly blow it down off the rocks with a turkey baster. You can also use the baster to redeposit the sand where you want it..once you have piles of it at the bottom.
Do you have a filter sock on the tank?

if your powerheads are mounted to your tank wall by suction cups you really should consider investing in those magnet holders which are rock solid reliable and never fall off. I made that change years ago and never looked back. I use suregrip magnets for my mj1200s. hth

the turkey baster sounds good. Ill do that as it all settles. And yeah, I think I am going to get those magnetic holders. The thought had actually crossed my mind yesterday. A day too late though. Thanks guys.

Just out of curiosity, when you guys clean your tank and scrape the walls, do you also take the powerheads out and clean the algae off them or clean them in the tank or just leave them? I'm actually starting to get coralline algae growing on them.

I take out powerheads about once per month and scrub off junk and sometimes run in vinegar to clean out. After vinegar treatment I run in a bucket of clean water 3 or 4 times to rinse completely.
