upgrading help

i have 55 gal tank right now
i hav 3 PH, remora SKimmer and orbit lites.
my friend wants to give me his 90gal for free
im going to keep the lites that i hav now.
im going to need to drill this tank.( anyone that could help let me know)
also what other things should i get to upgrade. im trying not to kill the wallet

also i hav 20gl fw i want to put the fw in the 55 and turn the 20gal in a sump if this could happen

did you treat the fw with any medication? if so you might want to hesitate on using it for the reef.

What are the dimensions of the 90g, what exact type of lights (type, wattage,etc), type of powerheads and definitely what type of corals/etc do you have already and are you looking to add considerably more livestock?

The whole change doesn't seem like it would be bad. This speaking towards your SW and FW upgrades.

A skimmer shouldn't be too hard to find, if you need more powerheads, holes drilled etc can be found right here on MR. Good prices from individuals and vendors alike.

Do you have a stand? And what is the size of your current sump?
I suppose a lot of 'what can I do' depends on what would you like to do?
In my next upgrade I want a sump with a bigger more elaborate/display type refugium. I want to use koralias as my powerheads, and get a skimmer rated for 100+ of my actual volume since I plan on actually stocking with fish (more than I have now).
My lights I would completely change if it wasn't 2-3x MH w/ actinic supplements OR I'd check out a nice 4-8x54 w T5 system! All without breaking the bank too much because I would hopefully sell what I don't want, and make further INVESTMENTS (lol...)

I suggest getting a bigger skimmer, and possibly upgrading the lights too.

i knew i needed a skimmer but wut kind. i hav 3 mexi jet 1200 ph
i do not hav a sump or anything like that
remora skimmer
48" current orbit 4x65 watt
im not going to upgrade the lites as of now becuz it will cost to much.
i hav all basic soft corals
2 zoas, 10 mushroom, GSP, frog spawn, 2 leathers
how much do u think?

go with 2 or 3 koralini 3's or 4's if not doing anymore corals then the type you have you should be ok for now with light's, you can have a glass shop cut baffles for you, the octopuss skimmer's seem decent from what people that have them say and arent that expensive either, hof drills tanks as well as aquatic express i think

You can add a sure-flow mod or eco mod to the maxijet..instead of getting more koralia...either sure flow or eco mod would make the flow for each maxi 2100

I think you can use that light fixture for now since your livestock is mostly softies..maybe instead of placing them on sandbed, you can place them on top of rocks....

I would upgrade to the 90 and use the 55 as your sump/fuge. House of Fish does drilling. You can pick up a mod kit for the maxi jets and they would be fine in the 90. I know House of Fish has the mods as well.
