Filtration Question

Over the past 5 months I have seen every kind of filtration system there can be. Sumps from 1 gallon all the way to 100 gallons. People with the smallest of protein skimmers from ones that are almost as tall as I am.

I was just wondering, do you really need to have all of that to keep a reef tank, you know a sump and all or could a really good protein skimmer and a really good UV ray filter work just as well.

Just wondering.

Earlie You Seen My Set-up, I Think I Have The Pretty Basic System. And Alot Depends On What All You Plan To Keep, Lps Sps Ect. Lmk If I Can Help With Anything

IMO i feel natural filtration is the best. along with a good skimmer. but thats my opinion.
