Last week I found my kenya tree, now trees (since it split into like 4 individual branches) laying on the backside of the GSP (the size of about a baseball) ever since than the backside hasn't fully extended like the rest....

The rest of the GSP is fine fully extended and huge, but in the back its like there is a nice sized indentation from where the kenya was laying ... its semi open the polyps but not fully as like the whole piece...it makes it look very odd ...

Will it eventually come through or did the kenya kill that portion for good?

By the way i moved them away from eachother ... :irked:

as for my noob knowledge kenya tree does not sting GSP. All it could do is irritate it and therefore causing the GSP not to open up. Move it away from each others and the gsp will open up in a few days.

my opinion as wellll..

i think the GSP will eventually come out. mine sometimes goes in for a day or two or three but usually come back out.

if there were an issue at all, I would think the GSP has a leg up on Kenya Tree. If anything got stung it's prolly the Kenya tree and perhaps maybe what caused it to split.

Those are two of the most invasive corals I had ever had, so this is gonna be one hell of a fight, because they both spread like crazy. Im curious who's gonna win

Its not normal for your GSP not to come out for a few days. check your water parameters.

I knew someone couldn't resist on that one! Its true though even though its slightly retracted in the back where the incident occurred it never once "not" opened in my tank (knock on wood lol) ...

I too think maybe water quality or positioning could be the result of an unhappy GSP

well capnella imbricata does have stinging nematocyst so it definatly could have irritated the GSp into staying closed for a number of days, GSP is a coral reputed to close up for short extended periods (I know almost an oxymoron)when bothered, moved, damaged, or housed improperly
