but what I'm wondering is that even though it is listed under aquarium fish cleaning and water treatments....would it be safe and affective to actually use on a reef tank?

I wouldn't get that particular carbon.Go to bulkreefsupply.com and check out their carbon.

that looks to me like a bucket of ROX 0.8 lignite carbon, its a good carbon with good macro pore size and low soluble ash. its iodine number is a little lower than some other carbons but not bad.

if it is ROX 0.8 yes it should be fine to use. lignite carbons arent my favorite because they tend to have a shorter lifespan and more soluble ash leading to some heavy metal leaching but compared to cheap carbon its about 5 steps up.

I wasn't really planning to until I got enough replies on here to see if it's ok. Plus I looked at bulkreefsupply.com and it seems like it's the same carbon but I might be wrong
