As of now, in my FOWLR I have 75 lbs of LR, a 5" sandbed, a remora skimmer i am selling to upgrade to the remora pro with a mag. I also have an eheim classic, a euro-reef sump/refugium, two penguin HOB filters and 2 small in tank canister filters I use to promote more circulation. My question is, since I am switching to reef, should i get rid of the HOB and Canister filters, since they are nitrate traps? or should i just try filling them with chemi pure, or just let them run empty to increase water volume and circulation? Should the remora pro skimmer and sump be enough filtration?

I had a remora pro on a 125 and it did pretty well. If you have a sump you might want to get one of the EV range though. When I upgraded to 175G I went up to an EV180. I prefer it a lot, but, then now everything is hidden, which is part of that preference.

Fill a canister with carbon, the other with some anti-phosphate stuff (your choice), and you'll be hood. Ditch the HOB.

Is the sump a refugium aready? DSB?

I would upgrade the skimmer and lose all the HOBs. I would use one of the canister filters for carbon only.

I would stay away from the spray injection skimmers if possible, there are more effective skimmers on the market.

what skimmer would you recommend. I was gonna upgrade from the remora to the remora pro with the mag. I was also thinking maybe the coral life super skimmer 125.

I would recommend the Euro Reef RS series. I have a 80 running in my 55g reef system and the stuff the skimmer pulls out is gooey..mucky...and nasty. I upgraded from a sea clone..(shame on me) from my 20 back then and that used to pull out "green tea" The skimmer I recommended is a in sump skimmer not a hob. Not sure how your remora works.
