I just got my fiji & tongan live rock via overnight shipping. I began curing them yesterday when I received them. i did a water change today and in my newbie stupor, I accidentally added RO water that had not been salted yet (guess I should label my buckets). I left the rocks in the water for approximately 5 hours and when I came back I noticed that the rocks were turning white and all of the coralline algae was almost gone. After testing the water, the SG was 1.016. I quickly raised the SG to 1.021 with a mixture in a bucket that I had previously prepared.

Am I screwed? Did I just murder my rocks and waste all of my money? Can I salvage anything? Please Help Me!!!!

Yeah a little longer curing because of the die off. Remember gradual changes for everything from now on. The sudden drop did some damage but then the sudden rise didn't help you much either.

Thanks guys, thought I ended my journey before I even started. Just out of curiosity, I purchased pre-cured fiji rock and uncured tongan rock. I put them both in to cure together. What are the implications (if any) to this?
