bio balls

hi, i have a 72 g bow, 2x150 mh, 2x28 actinics, sump with carbon bag, phosban reactor, MTC skimmer....my question is..do i need bio balls in the sump or can my live rock in the tank be enough?? currently have lps, sps, leathers, zoos, shrooms, clam, fish, shrimp, rbt, white sebae, fromia star

You do not need bioballs in the sump, this can however be substituted for live sand and rubble live rock.

Bioballs become a nitrate factory because they will trap detrius and other particles that will start to rot and cause you problems down the road.

can the bio balls provided you have enough live rock. as stated by cheifmcfuz they "become a nitrate factory" i couldent have said it any better.

live rock ruble is pretty cheap.. use that instead.
