Hi reefers

I am moving into a new apartment, and looking to upgrade my 30 to this 50 Long possibly

http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=OrderForm&sProdID=ACRAQ_50Long

Does anyone have experience with drilling tanks, what should I drill in this and what size fittings? I am using an overflow now and have i think a 2 inch drain.
I am running a 20G tall refugium tank underneath.

Anyone have helpful plumbing tips I might employ when doing this upgrade? I am kind of engineering-dumb. :)

Thanks in advance guys, much appreciated. Also, if anyone is selling some 50-60 gallon acrylic in good condition, hit me up :) !

Since you're looking to have GC do it for you, the appropriate sizes you'll need are:

Overflow = 1"
Return = 3/4"

It makes all the difference in the world what type of bulkhead you're going to use. The cheap bulkheads are schedule 40. The nice, heavy duty bulkheads are schedule 80. I HIGHLY recommend the sch. 80 bulkheads. Just make sure GC knows to drill the appropriate hole for that bulkhead and that you buy the correct bulkhead.

If you're getting it from GC's, it's worth the $100 they'll charge you to drill the holes and that will include the bulkheads - this is just my opinion of course since I am not spending the money :)

usually bottoms are tempered, so drill back of tank with diamond bits you can get cheap on ebay. also look at youtube for videos of drilling fish tanks(HELPFUL STUFF).
