how do you keep your snails out of the skimmer pump?

My ceriths tend to go into the pump somehow and into the skimmer body. Some die but some small enough survive. One of my my huge Turbos I have to clean the chamber was sucked into the skimmer and caused the skimmer to go nuts and eventually skimmed out about 5 gallons of water into my buckets.

All is left is just the shell and the snails protective plate.

why do you have snails in the sump ? i dont put anything where a pump can suck it up, could have been worse if it was the return pump

i have it in the refugium but they crawl over to the skimmer chamber.

i have nothing alive animal wise in sump for that reason, had a remote fuge once and a snail clogged the drain fortunate i was sitting there and seen the water rise,
