valve on outlet side of uv sterilizer

i had too much flow coming out of the uv, so itried to install a valve to reduce the flow but it seems like it is causing stress, maybe backflow. the water coming from the uv jumps back and forth in the tube and it's making noise. anyone have any input?

Your valve should be on the input side of the UV. When you place it on the outlet side, it's probably causing pressure to build up in the UV body. If you can't switch where the valve is located, you can try locating the valve a few feet after the outlet side. This might help. I have my outlet valved also but it's about 3 ft from the UV port. I don't have the turbulence that you are experiencing.
