are carpet anemones bad

Yesterday i bought as a package deal 3 clowns fish and a green carpet anemone that was hosting it. i decided to do research on the carpet and found out that they can and do sting and kill fish and coral and that i should have plenty of space for it. so far so good but should i return the anemone and is there some other coral i can get for the clowns that are not that dangerous or is really ok to keep the carpet.

dont recommend them ad i have one, basically impossible to remove and will eat anything that accidently touch's it

Ive had a carpet for about 3 weeks...has eaten my two favorite fish, a blue throat trigger, and a lineatus wrasse(spelling)....I believe once the clown is hosting the carpet, the other fish will be forced to stay away.


FWIW, all anemones can sting corals and fish, but a sting from a carpet is very intense

mine clown doesnt let things close, but all's it takes is a touch of a healthy carpet and it is stuck and dinner

Our carpet likes to go for strolls often... it walks at least once a week from one side of the tank, stopping momentarily in the middle, then walks back again. The clowns aren't hosting it but the anemone shrimp has been in it for a few weeks now. He sits basically on top of the anemones mouth. Pretty funny to watch him go for a ride all the time.

We have pretty much cleared the sandbed of corals so the carpet can move as it pleases. Any anemone can sting other corals, move about, and eat fish. Just be aware of the powerful sting a carpet can give and don't touch it bare handed. They are extremely quick as well. Ours grabbed onto Craig a while back and he was a good distance away.. before you knew it it caught onto his one fingertip. Ouchie.

I have a bubble tip and it hasn't moved since the day I got it and my maroon hosted him quick. I had a pre fab rock with a whole through the middle of it. just like this one http://images.smarter.com/300x300x15/44/60/184760.jpg
I Layed the rock on it's side, put a glove on and placed the anemone inside the hole in the center of the rock. I held him in place for a minute or so and it never moved. it seems to love the spot and has opened up nicely. I attached a photo, I may have just gotten lucky but figured i would share if it worked for me maybe it would for u.

I had one for a while when it was smaller it was ok but when it grew I had two expensive tangs eaten and the remains found under the anemone
