Easy & fast for filter Socks

Hey guys.. i was jsut wondering whats the easiest and fastes way to clean filter socks??? Also, a way for it not to make your skimmer go crazy! I've just been washing it with tap water until it looks a lot cleaner and then letting it dry for 2 days before i put it back in my tank. This is a very anoying way to clean it and it takes too long..so feel free to tell me a faster and easier way!

I throw mine in the washing machine with some bleach. If there is still an oder of bleach after the first wash I run a quick rinse cycle, water only. I then let them air dry.

Regular unscented. Clorox or generic brand will be fine.

Washing Socks!!!

I have an old salt bucket that I fill halfway with clean water and a cup of bleach. After rinsing the sock after removing it from my sump I leave it in the bucket until I have 5 dirty socks and then wash them by hand in my slop sink, then air dry them for a day.

Hey Noelskii, I have three saltwater tanks so I am washing 5 socks at a time. Just the socks without any clothes.

I imagine washing them with your whites would be OK as long as you do not use any detergent. Otherwise, you can use the bucket method that NYC Reefer described. It is a more economical method than running one filter sock through a wash and rinse cycle. It is just not the fastest and easiest way to get it clean.

I usualy do 9 of them at a time . throw them in the machine with bleach only and not alot by themsleves no other clothes...
