Harlequin Shrimp ?

a friend of mine just gave me a harlequin shrimp with a choc chip star. my question is should i leave the star in the tank with him all the time, or take out the star after a few days?
he would cut up the stars and feed the shrimp the peices of it.
dont really want to have to cut this guy up, can i leave it in the tank for afew days and then move it the the back chamber?
how often will the shrimp have to eat?

i usually keep between 3-5 CC in my sump at all times . i cut off a piece of an arm and feed him every other week or so . i never leave the whole CC in the tank
my harley is mostly hidden when he has food , only ventures out when he's hungry so thats when i know when to feed

thanks, im going to keep the star in my qt tank and cut off small pieces of it, i did a internet search and that seem like the best way to feel him
