what is an ideal wattage per gallon for a mixed reef? i know different corals have different requirements, but i want to try to satisfy all types of coral.

Wattage per gallon is an ancient method that is of no use what-so-ever ... you can't compare 150W of T-5 to 150W of MH ... 2 completely different types of light ...

Mixed reef ... if you don't mind the heat I would personally go with MH ... or a good 6-8 bulb T-5 fixture with individual reflectors ...

How deep is the tank? What size tank? Specs would help determine what you would need. :D

It's a 215 gal oceanic, 28" high, 2' wide and 6' long. I am currently running a coralife aquapro combo light. Not sure if this is sufficient.

150W or 250W?

28" deep tank 250 is more than enough ... I know some will say on a tank that deep run 400W's ... but for a mixed reef the 250w's will be just fine. :D

Cool ... If everything looks great and nothing is faded ... then why switch yeah? 250w's would be ideal ... but if there is no point in changing them ... leave it alone. ;)
Water stability is more important IMHO ...
