Why would anyone buy a new pc fixture instead of t-5

understand why someone would replace pc bulbs or even a ballast. But with all i have read and personal use what is the benefit, if there is one, of buying new pc fixtures as compared to t-5. not comparing to mh which is different entirely but just t-5 to pc. seems t-5 is so much better yet see many lfs and catalogs selling them so people must continue buying

I think it also depends on what you're keeping and how much you want to spend. I have a tank with PCs and I'm keeping monti (digitata, encrusting and caps) porites, mushrooms, frogspawn, tubinaria and others. The PC's (both bulbs and light fixture) are usually cheaper than a t5ho set-up. That being said I do have a 6 bulb t5ho on my 75 SPS reef.

I've had both types of lights and defenitely prefer the t-5's. I saw much better growth from my LPS under the t-5's.
