I had a couple of them in my tank and they were on a huge base LR, I bought a peppermint shrimp and he completely took care of them

peppermints and copperbands ONLY work on aptsiaia unless you get lucky..

never heard of the filefish .. until recently..

THESE THINGS DESTROYED MY TANK..

Kalkwasser them first chance you get.. OR

a Raccon Butterfly will devour them.. but watch out.. once hes done.. it will be LPS and zoa time.

good luck.

I got lucky with 2 peppermint shrimp in my 100g but it was not a widespread outbreak

I also tried kalk paste but for me it made matters worse as these pests would be gone on one rock that I kalked and show up elsewhere

Kuyamark: you don't fool around with 15 in a 120 you increased your chances dramatically by going full force

sharp tweezers and a lot of elbow grease worked for me. Peppermints did nothing for mine and I could not kill them with chemicals.

I'd be careful about picking/scraping/cutting them off the rock. you could easily make the problem worse...not saying it didn't work for you, but its a good way to spread them around the tank.

Ive read online that peppermint shrimp attack coral after a while is this true? how many would you guys recommend for a 75g? Will they even touch the majanos or do they mainly focus on aptasia?

I've done the Aiptasia X / Joe's Juice thing (basically kalk), only works for a short time and whatever piece lives through the treatment comes right back. I would love to see a troop of peppermint shrimp destroy the majanos, but have a blood thirsty Hawk Fish that loves to chase them right out of the tank.

I did try super glue/epoxy with some success. Basically you completely cover the Majanos and hope they don't find a way out of their prison before dying. Also, I had some success covering an infected area with a fresh piece of LR, they climb on and you remove.
