I'm moving and setting up a new tank from scratch. Over the past 2 years I've noticed a lot of nasties that I could have avoided by using a QT.

Do I need two QT setups? One for fish and one for corals/inverts? I figure the number of fish I can house is limited, so the fish QT will be on an "as-needed" basis. Corals will be constantly coming in, so the coral QT will be more permanent.

Is this a sound plan? I was looking at a stand from petco that holds 2 10gal tanks, one above the other. I got the OK from my significant other. What do you guys think?

I know for a fact that some of my close reefer friends have some nasties that I would like to keep out of my tank..

I would say do both if you have the room. I would also say to lable them, just incase one day you have to treat a fish. You don't want to accidently put anything in the coral tank that should not be in there.;)

well honestly... i would just have one qt tank for both.... i wouldn't recommend any live rock in it... just some pvc piping for the fish to hide and for the coral to be place in certain levels in the tank. this way ich and other types of parasites can't thrive... if you have a fish w/ ich and it is done being treated in the qt tank ... just throw out the pvc/filter media/ etc so nothing else gets contaminated afterwards. corals on the other hand i do not believe to be so hard to quarantine. granted if you do have the room and equipment do it...but seems to me like you don't need 2.
