um so yea so is anyone else a very strong believer in karma, i've had an ad up on craigslist for a few months asking for any kind of donations of food, gear, salt etc with almost no responses since i have had it up and about an hour ago i just got an email from someone who wants to donate a fully setup 220 gallon reef tank full of corals, fish, and inverts because he is moving out of the country and is looking for someone to give everything to as long as they give it a good home...im still shocked and speechless you have no idea

Great guys.
I'm just starting out. Hopefully I can join in the tradition of helping, trading, and donating.

Now who wants to donate a frogspawn or hammerhead :sgrin:
I can donate a Zoa if you can frag it. I can't frag, yet. No skills :Starwars:

there are a ton of nice people out there that helped me start building, still not quite that full but looking 100x better , so i was giving back to the community to try and promote others to do the same...if you're here just to sell then you're in the wrong hobby...sure selling isnt that bad if it is at a fair price considering it will help cover costs on salt and other equipment but $60 for a single polyp is a little ridiculous to me lol, you are fragging to make room for other stuff so why try making a profit when you could just trade or help another person out who is just starting.....i fully encourage people to do the same, im not too experienced yet and my 55 is still looking pretty bare to me but i had a little extra of something so why not help someone else out right?

Very well written, I myself think the same way. My tank has been running for almost 2 years now, and I have not charged anything that came from my tank.
Cheers to you.

Nice of you to share. Do some research and you'll find numerous instances of MR generosity (DBTC and other threads). You will always find opportunites for free or cheap equipment and livestock. It's the kindness of those who buy the expensive stuff initially that makes the hobby less expensive for those to whom they pass it along.

There should be one forum perhaps called MR GENEROSITY

so yea the tank was a scam by someone who was mad at me for not selling a piece of frock back to him for the same price he charged me for it...i had bought 30lbs for 65 knowing i didnt need the full 30 and told him i would put the rest back up on the market so i put the remaining 15lbs back up on the market for $30...less than half of what i paid with about half the rock i bought....the guy didnt agree with the price so i said no hard feelings business is business and a whole big scheme was planned....i cant bash anyone in here but if you would like to hear details/see emails feel free to PM me

While we are on MR GENEROSITY post of the week...

I would like to offer/give away two pieces of smoked glass I had someone cut out for a 6' tank i was turning into SW.
(I broke the tank while making holes on it, so never got around to placing or mending the smaked glass ).

This 6' smoked glass was going to be a Coast to Coast-overflow .... ( the holes still need to be drilled, must bond the glass together )
