Holly cow, that's is one large expensive skimmer. And you are upgrading to a bigger one? My hero.

Adrian, I am sure you have considered this, but what about utilizing two (or more) skimmers to acheive your goals.

Less expensive, Redundant, and FLexible.

The next model up:)
Adrian, I just don't think the ap1006 is worth the money. I would suggest keeping the ap1004 and getting someone on RC to build you a second skimmer. There are a few guys making some seriously quality skimmers on RC, both recirculating needle wheels and becketts. If you said I'm going to spend 3k on a skimmer, I'm pretty sure they could build you a skimmer that looks better and performs better than the ap1006. You might not get it right away but it would be worth the wait.

Spazz on RC is making some really nice stuff including wet necks. He's CNC machining his parts and the stuff looks really nice. I think Vic8361 is getting a skimmer from him. Here's a thread of his, http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=732601&goto=newpost but look closer to the end where he's doing some stuff for the guy bill.

And Brent at barr aquatics makes some really nice stuff. He's said he's slowing down and going to subcontract but for a skimmer that big maybe he would make an exception.

For the amount of watts and money the ap1006 costs you have a lot of other options available.
