Well, had them for about a month now, they seem to be doing well, so time to spread the joy. Had them in isolation and no pests that I can see. I've moved 2 to my 30 gal refugium and they forage (actively hunt for) the pods in there. I don't feed them anything directly but they eat as much as a mandarin goby. Moved 2 to the main tank but there they don't do well, since they can't compete with other fish for food. (There is a moderate current in the main tank and they just sit in one spot waiting for food to drift by in front of them.)
Eating frozen mysis. Will trade for a pack of frozen mysis
Have 3 that are 6" in length.
Was told they don't live too long in warm water but winter is coming, so I guess you'll need to keep them cool (75F)
Honestly, from what I can see, they are hardy and need to be fed frequently like other sea horses. These guys are doing much better than some fish I've picked up at the store.

I believe you're talking about sport fishing and food fish with size limits. (porgy, sea bass, fluke etc) These aren't regulated as far as I know, like catching bait fish or tropical strays. Anyway I'm not selling, but trading for frozen food.

Oh ok. Because a friend of mine tried to sell to a LFS some local blowfish and pipe and they told him its illegal

Found it, I just had to check. Sea horses are regulated by CITES. This link has a instructions on how to examine pipe fish if you catch one. Like kids catching tadpoles.

Free to a good home. read their requirements. If you have a large refugium you can release them in to it, probably 1 per 20+ gallons of refugium to forage. Or you can feed them in a tank with little competition. First come first served.
