Lifereef 30'' Protein Skimmer w/ pump

Simply put: the majority of protein skimmers being sold today are the least efficient way to design a protein skimmer.... They have the shortest contact time and this means less efficiency for removing proteins. The longer the bubbles stay in the skimmer the more efficient the skimmer will be. Bubble plate type skimmers have the least amount of contact time.
CONTACT TIME is what makes a protein skimmer efficient. The longer you can keep the rising bubbles in the water the better the efficiency. A bubble-plate is not a good method because as soon as the bubbles leave the plate they head straight to the surface, a straight line, the shortest distance possible between two points. Having the bubble have some "dwell time" within the skimmer increases the dwell time and increases the skimmers performance and gallon rating. In our smaller skimmers the design features an off-center internal bubble-baffle tube and an off-center foam riser column causing the bubbles to hit the underside of the skimmer and bounce around taking a longer time to get out and thus increased performance. On taller skimmers the contact time is increased using a rotational input feature to cause a lower level vortex. Both of these design techniques are excellent dwell time features, MUCH MORE EFFICIENT THAN STRAIGH-LINE BUBBLE-RISING SKIMMERS.
If you want a truly "set and forget" skimmer then this is it. If you want to fiddle with ball/gate valves, air adjustments, water in/water out adjustments, unclog needle-wheels, fret, worry about flooding, have more downtime than skimming time, proprietary pumps that won't be around when you need to purchase another, then the list is extensive with other skimmer choices. The skimmer is in very good shape and is good for tanks up to 400 gallons.
Asking $200.00
